How to Get the Best Price Anytime of the Year

Standing in long line-ups after Christmas just to get what I think is going to be the ‘lowest price’ is not my idea of a relaxing, fun filled holiday season.

From experience, I have found what I thought was a boxing week special, only to see the same price being offered well into the New Year.

Reading sale flyers throughout the year is a great way to get those all important items at a much reduced price. No line-ups, no “sorry we’ve just sold out” and no stress - that is how I like to shop.

If you watch for specials on the items, you may need or want, at the end of the season you are bound to get it for less. In addition, some stores will purchase a ‘special order’ where they get a major discount for buying a ton, and pass the savings onto you. This can be particularly true for seasonal items, purchasing them well in advance of the up-coming season. I missed the ‘best price for the year’ on an item generally purchased in the spring, because the largest discount for that item was being offered in early February.

Should you shop at a local store and they advertise they will match any competitors’ price; this can be a pleasant way to save without the inconvenience of shopping outside your area, and with the price of gas these days, an additional savings, as well.
